But I just readjusted and somehow Avery managed to give himself a faux hawk. Like a perfect little kitty hawk.

So the problem with designing characters who become popular is that, if you’re a needy bastard like me who tracks the Lutece tags when you’re bored, you’re suddenly exposed to a ton of art of said characters in various states of undress.

I’m not one to discourage this sort of thing- no no, I have sketchbooks full of Remus/Sirius stuff from high school- but I figured I might as well give everyone a leg-up with a more detailed guide to Rosalind Lutece’s potential underthings. I’ve seen a ton of drawings of her in corsets from a good 50 years before her time and I… I needed to step in.

Think of this as a primer! Not a be-all-end-all of Edwardian underthings (heck, I’m still learning this stuff), but it might teach you some new fashion terms/ideas you weren’t previously aware of! Go forth, young padawan, and draw historically-accurate Rosalind porn to your heart’s content.

I still didn’t break a hundred tonight but it was better than Monday. I made a solid hundred. Solid 90 once I tipped the DJ. But god tonight was so slow and the customers were mostly shit. Even the good ones ended up being shit.
Like, these two guys. One was okay but the other only started out that way. He popped my back for me and gave me a massage and dear god I felt happier after. It was that good. And later on I came back from giving a dance and was going to high five him for getting a dance but I did a low five set up and he gave me a twenty. Awesome! Let’s do a dance bro.
That’s when it got bad.
He kept wanting to grab the hips/ass area. At one point he said my boobs looked like a perfect handful so I put my hand over one to see and he put his hand over mine which, from far away, would look very not good for me. Then he kept trying to kiss my neck. Like wet sucker-fish kisses. And when we finished and I sat in the chair next to him putting my shoes on he fucking dove in and got in another quick one.
Ugh. I hate neck kisses more than groping. At least groping doesn’t leave me with saliva on my neck.
Though the next guy I gave a dance to didn’t seem to notice or mind because he did the same thing!
The only good guys came in at the start. They hit my stage first and I told them my name was Babs. One responded with ‘Hi Babs. I’m Captain America and this is my friend Batman.’
“Oh my god. You know where my name came from.”
‘Of course. I’ve been reading comics since…well since my parents would buy them for me.’
(This guy was in his mid-forties at least btw.)
Me and S hung out with them. They tipped well at the stages (not amazingly but well worth our time). One of them was a music nerd and he and S chatted about that. Me and Captain talked about comics. Then we split off and I got Batman. Both guys bought semi-privates from us and were fun to talk to. Not disparaging, not assholes. Super nice. Made the bartender happy too (people weren’t even tipping him tonight. One guy kept even taking the quarters he was getting as change for his drinks. Fucker.).
We had lots of talks about the future. One of them was from Seattle, the other from Portland. I told them where I was going to be working when I moved and the one guy was like ‘I’ll have to come see you’ but he said it like he meant it.
They were just all around good guys and when they left S and I looked at each other. She said ‘They are wonderful’ and I said ‘They are so cool.’
I just wish the rest of the night had gone that well. Everyone should really be more like Captain America and Batman.

The film shoot thingy went well. I ended up not being scantily clad because the director liked how I was dressed anyway. Considering we shot outside in the rain (I was under a small overhang) at a really, really sketch motel that people live in this was good though.
A) Stayed warm in the rain.
B) Having a young woman dressed in underwear hanging around outside a cheap motel points to ‘random sex worker thrown in for no reason’. And considering what I know of the movie and why my bit part was there to begin with, it would have pointed to other bad sex worker tropes.
C) The guy who lived in the unit next to the one we were shooting in front of kept wandering out and trying to talk to me. At first he asked if I was moving in, I said no. Then he asked if I was waiting for someone. I said no but he kept trying to find out who I was waiting for. I was waiting for the car to pull around so I could do this improv scene with the other actress. Then I finally just told him we were making a movie and he asked if we had permission to be filming people’s apartments like this (dude, I don’t know). I mean, I’d be a bit paranoid too if I had that much pot smell coming out of my residence. But he managed to leave us alone whenever the other actress popped up to do the improv bit. For the most part. The second time he was asking her if she was from Warner Brothers. We both ignored him though.
However, had I been hanging around in my underwear I’m sure he would have been even more interested in what we were doing and there were a few minutes each time where I was on my own with him. So I am really glad I got to keep my dress on.
Anyway, it was quick it was fun and in a couple of weeks I get to do another scene as another bit character. But this time it’s a flashback, I think. Or something. I’m not really sure. But if it went as well as this twenty minute thing it’ll be a good time.
And on the plus side, going through ideas for outfits for this thing did make me put together some new combos for work that I can try out tonight. Yay!

To be honest, I think anger is really healthy in situations like this. It is so easy to turn your negative feelings about your assault inwards. Society will push as hard as it can to make you blame yourself. Maybe moving past your anger will be a part of your healing, but until you’re ready to take that step—and you don’t have to be, ever, if you don’t want that—I think it’s much better to keep your negative feelings fixed outwards, on your attacker, where they belong.

It is not fair that you are the one who has to cull your social circle after what’s happened, but making this public means putting your suffering on display in a way you maybe really don’t want to, and opening yourself up to be doubted and judged, and you have every right to choose not to go through that. I support you and believe you no matter what.

I really feel for this OP. My sophomore year of college I got assaulted by a classmate and though I told people in my class about it (mostly the girls because this guy was sort of preying on people in general and I just happened to get the worst of it) they kept inviting him places and to parties. I didn’t have a car at the time so I would have to sit at these gatherings and act like I was fine with it.
He’s actually been popping up in the artist scene in town again. Makes me glad I’m leaving. And it makes me glad that my most recent abuser/rapist wasn’t heavily involved in my social circle (just, you know, kept dating a peer even though/(let’s be honest) because he knew it made me uncomfortable) because it means I haven’t had to run into him much since our breakup.
But stuff like this is incredibly common and often times the only fix for it is to find new friends who will understand that if someone in the group sexually assaults another person, you kick them out. Not the survivor. Not the person who was brave enough to come forward about things. It doesn’t matter how great of a person someone is or how fun they are at parties.
I hope everything works out for this OP and I’m applauding Boggle more than usual for the advice.

I am really enjoying Mystery Inc save for one thing.
They turned Velma into this ‘crazy girlfriend’ (in quotes because that’s the cliche and it’s an ableist term but it’s the best way to sum up that trope) who is constantly trying to change Shaggy and at one point tells him to put a rubber band around his wrist and pull it back so it can hit his wrist really hard every time he says the word ‘like’.
Which is, you know, really fucked up.
I was originally behind the relationship because I liked seeing the woman/Velma is the more aggressive one in the relationship (that Shaggy clearly doesn’t want to be in) and is trying to get it to be more mature but the more episodes I watch the more really fucked up this is getting. And I hope it starts going in a better direction because this show is really good but seeing a show I really loved as a kid get revamped and ‘deepened’ in a way that includes normalizing woman on man abuse is not what I signed up for.
Especially since they lampshade every time Fred is a jerk to Daphne (he has referred to her as ‘bait’ twice so far) and point out that that’s bad. So it’s really a case of the ‘abuse is funny when it’s woman on man’ trope.

This would be more hilarious if it weren’t so depressing.
